There are many options. Your best however, to go with a shade that has less space between shades. That being said, do not use rollershades as you will have a 2" gap between shades. Best to go with a shutter, pleated, cellular or roman shade.
I have a skylight windows, can I put a shutter on it?
Yes, but only a certain shutter. Shutters by Eclipse, Maxxmar etc will melt and warp due to the heat. Contact me and I can show you an alluminum white shutter that many clients are estatic about!
What do I put on a french or front door?
The best to put on doors are pleated or cellulars with a hold down bracket so when opening the door the shade does not swing out. Shutters, romans or glass inserts will work as well.
What is the most practical window covering to put in my son's room?
The safest is a shade with no cords, literise by Hunter Douglas. The least expensive shades are rollershades. Or, you can go with a 2"faux wood or shutter.
Is it ok to have shutters in the bedroom?
I find that clients will add drapery a few years after the fact to add color and texture. Shutters will always be there for light control and privacy.
I have a patio door and windows in the room beside it, open concept. What else can I use besides shutters?
Most clients put a screenshade on the windows with a cassette to dress it up. Then,with the patio door, a panel track in the same fabric. These fabrics are easy to clean (wipe down) and filter out the light.
